Jazz, fusion and Indian classical returns to a speakeasy setting as ZLB23 kicked off it’s gig series Magnetic Music Season 02 in Bengaluru on Jun. 11.
Accessed through a secret entrance in an unlikely part of The Leela Palace hotel in Bengaluru, upcoming performances at ZLB23 include sitarist Varun Nimbolkar and his collective (Jun. 18), fusion collective Aaikyam with percussionist Vaibhav Wavikar, pianist Niranjan Joshi and Shehnai artist Omkar Dhumal (Jun. 19) and the quartet Skin Wind & Strings (Jun. 20) comprising tabla artist Adarsh Shenoy, bansuri player Madhu Chapai, mridangam and kanjira artist Adamya and guitarist Jagadeesh.
Magnetic Music Season 02 closes with a performance from Rajasthan Roots on Jun. 21.
Kicking off on Jun. 11, Magnetic Music Season 02 as already hosted the likes of Chennai carnatic and jazz-informed act Jatayu, percussionist Karthik Mani with flautist Tejasvi Raghunath, plus violinist Apoorva Krishnan, slide guitar artist Prakash Sontakke and more, bringing a total of nine acts to the stage.
Previously, in December last year, ZLB23 Magnetic Music’s inaugural edition brought in prog-jazz trio MaMoGi, Colombian band Los Rolling Ruanas, the Bluegrass Journeymen and more.
ZLB23 is housed within The Leela Palace Hotels and Resorts. The company’s area vice president, South India, Madhav Sehgal says in a statement, “Magnetic Music is one of the core pillars at ZLB23. While Season 01 was about jazz and R&B from around the world, this time we thought we would curate an Indian accented repertoire, bringing Indian fusion back to its roots. Being committed to relaying original, curated music at our exclusive venue for our discerning guests, we are sure that Season 02 will be an even bigger hit with our patrons.”
Magnetic Music Season 02 runs from Jun. 11 to Jun. 21, 2024, from 8 pm onwards at ZLB23, A Kyoto Speakeasy, The Leela Palace, Bengaluru.
