Alan Ritchson has drawn much acclaim for his work as Jack Reacher in the Amazon Prime Video series “Reacher,” and the actor says he has no plans to give up the role anytime soon.
The series, based on the novels by Lee Child, was an immediate hit for the streamers – pulling in 1.84 billion minutes of watch time in its first season’s debut week.
Participating in a recent interview with THR, both Ritchson and Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke say they plan to stay in partnership as long as possible regarding the series.
Salke, who signed the actor to a three-picture deal just after the second season renewal order, says:
“We’ll have Alan as long as he will play Jack Reacher. No end in sight for that, hopefully that’s for a very, very, very long time.
As for Ritchson, he plans to keep going until he simply can physically no longer do it:
I owe it to the audience to explore as many of these books as my body will allow, and I owe it to the people that took a shot on me when I was a huge risk for them. They have given me a real career.”
Ritchson will return to finish shooting the third season in Toronto later this month after he wraps filming the action-comedy “Playdate” co-starring Kevin James.
That third season is expected to premiere either at the very end of this year, or early next.
