Selena Gomez is bidding farewell to 2023 with a series of photos on social media that celebrate casual times with the people she loves, blemishes and all.
On December 30, Gomez shared a full range of looks in a Instagram slideshow captioned, “Moments in time.” There are messy buns and braid extensions, stylized photoshoots and hangouts with friends, Disney trips, mirror selfies, and even a few make-up free photos.
Gomez did not even edit out a couple apparent blemishes in one nonchalant selfie with her little sister, Gracie Teefey. Let’s just say it’s rare to see a star post photos with visible pimples, so this is refreshing to see. Some days we’re showing off red-orange lipstick, and some days we’re giving our skin a rest and letting the world see our acne!
This relatable move aligns quite well with the ethos of Gomez’s cosmetic line, Rare Beauty. Recently, the brand posted a “rare reminder” on Instagram that “you are not defined by a photo, like, or comment,” encouraging consumers to find “beauty in your imperfections.”
Gomez is CEO of the brand, which places an emphasis on mental health, and carries lotions and an aromatherapy pen in addition to make-up. “Removing the pressure of having the perfect self-care routine; self-comfort looks different for each and every person,” Rare Beauty captioned a video of their new Find Comfort Body Care collection. “It’s about accepting yourself as you are, loving yourself, and being there for yourself so you can be there for the ones you love.”
