On Saturday, Hong Kong artiste Selena Li (李施嬅) was aboard a Cathay Pacific flight flying out of Hong Kong’s airport when the airliner had a technical issue in the middle of take-off that resulted in an abrupt evacuation. Eighteen passengers were reportedly injured in the incident but fortunately Selena reported that she was safe.
Selena posted a video on her social network to describe the incident and shared, “I came home safely. Tonight was thrilling. It was my first time that my plane moved at high speed on the runway and then suddenly hit the brakes. Everything fell out. Everyone was so scared. Then the flight attendant and captain said that everyone had to evacuate. Everyone was nervous and screaming. It was very chaotic. I was scared.”
Selena was grateful to the captain’s professionalism for identifying an issue with the plane before the takeoff. Although all the passengers followed instructions and escaped through the evacuation slides, Selena saw a few passengers getting injured. Selena said, “I am very grateful. Although it was scary, everyone is safe. It doesn’t matter if we didn’t fly. All the staff, flight attendants and pilots worked hard.”
