New York-based burger joint Shake Shack will open its second location in Bangkok’s soon-to-be-opened Emsphere mega mall complex.
Leading up to the mall’s opening next month, the burger spot invited Bangkok-based artist P7 to create a snazzy, hand-drawn graffiti art installation at the Phrom Phong skytrain station skywalk that connects Emsphere and its sister malls Emporium and EmQuartier.
The installation is a tribute to Shake Shack’s New York beginnings. P7’s mural, named “From New York to The Emsphere”, resembles the art style reminiscent of what you’d find at a New York subway station. His signature characters represent “the diversity of people in Sukhumvit, and the colors epitomize the ever-changing energy of the neighborhood.” The art also features Shake Shack’s burgers, fries and beverages – a taste of things to come.
The installation can be seen until Dec. 3. No exact date has been given for the opening of Shake Shack’s Emsphere branch, though it will likely launch alongside the mall in December 2023.
Shake Shack, which has spawned local imitators, finally entered Bangkok’s busy burger circuit with their first location in Bangkok in March. Its first joint is located on the first floor of CentralwOrld, occupying the space that used to be the old Isetan.
Customers queued up at the store’s grand opening to try their famous Angus beef burgers, crispy chicken, criss cut fries and hand-spun milkshakes.
The first branch features a mural by Thai artist Navin Rawanchaiku – the same artist who painted Shake Shack’s original “I Heart Taxi” cart in Madison Square Park.
