Berlin Fashion Week newcomer Sia Arnika has assets that not all of her peers share, starting with a successful online store and enough well-received collections that her show guests could be convinced to drive some distance to a film studio on the city limits. The late-night trip was worth it; seeking out and nurturing young talent is crucial for the international appeal of this Fashion Week.
After graduating from a Berlin fashion school, the Danish designer started her label in the German capital and has remained true to this decision, despite the fact that she’s already finding global recognition (including from members of the Jenner-Kardashian family).
Fueled by the contrast of her Nordic heritage and the expressive energy of Berlin, her core aesthetic has evolved to blend minimalism and maximalism: “Experimental normality” is what she calls it. As in seasons before, transparency, layering, and slashed materials played central roles in the visual design, with results that fused wearability, creativity, and recognizability. Sia Arnika is a designer to keep a constant eye on.
