Two veteran actors, one a famed Oscar winner the other an iconic action star, have responded to some Marvel-related discussion involving them.
First up, Russell Crowe was asked about negative comments that Dakota Johnson made about working on a comic book movie during her “Madame Web” press tour.
Both Johnson and Crowe star in Marvel-Sony films. She in ‘Web’ which was famously slammed by critics and bombed at the box-office when it released back in February.
He stars in the upcoming “Kraven the Hunter” film and recently, as part of his GQ profile, was told her comments about struggling with a big-studio superhero movie and art ‘made by committee’. He was then asked what his experience was on his own Sony-Marvel project. He says:
“I don’t want to make any comments to what anybody else might have said or what their experience is, but… you’re bringing out the impish quality of my humour. [Laughs.] You’re telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some f—– universe for cartoon characters… and you didn’t get enough pathos?
Not quite sure how I can make this better for you. It’s a gigantic machine, and they make movies at a certain size…. These are jobs. You know: here’s your role, play the role. If you’re expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, I just think you’re here for the wrong reasons.”
Meanwhile actor Wesley Snipes, who famously played Marvel hero Blade across three films from 1998-2005, appears to have responded to all the reports of production woes going on involving the new “Blade” at Marvel Studios.
In a posting on X today, Snipes said: “Blade, lordylordylordy folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough. Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they? #DaywalkerKlique #Blade #Marvel”
The film made headlines again this week with director Yann DeMange dropping out of the production which is undergoing another re-write. Mahershala Ali has been attached to the lead role for five years.
