Snow and rain warnings for several states; Uttarakhand gets yellow alert for thunderstorms

The latest weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of diverse weather conditions persisting across the country until March 19. Anticipated weather patterns include snowfall, rainfall, thunderstorms, and the possibility of hailstorms in multiple regions.

Snowfall alert:
In Himachal Pradesh, the local meteorological office has issued a detailed forecast indicating the likelihood of rain, snow, and thunderstorms specifically in the mid and higher hills on March 14, with subsequent dry weather anticipated in the region. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand is expected to experience very light to light rain or snow in isolated pockets across Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Rudraprayag districts. In contrast, the remaining districts of Uttarakhand are projected to remain dry according to the forecasts provided by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for the aforementioned districts, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in specific isolated areas.

According to the latest updates from the meteorological department, isolated instances of light rainfall or snowfall are anticipated in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till March 16th. Meanwhile, in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, the IMD forecasts isolated to scattered occurrences of light to moderate rainfall or snowfall spanning a longer duration, till March 19th.

Rainfall alert:
According to recent forecasts by the meteorological department, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha are expected to experience light rainfall till March 19th. Similarly, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness light rainfall from March 16th to March 19th.

In addition, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (ranging from 30-40 kmph) over specific areas. These include Gangetic West Bengal on March 14th, and 16th, and East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha on March 16th and 17th.

Furthermore, the weather department predicts isolated light rainfall across Assam and Meghalaya till March 19th. Similarly, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to experience isolated light rainfall till March 17th.

According to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in Delhi, there is no rain expected over the upcoming six days. However, the sky is forecasted to be partly cloudy during this period. Temperatures are projected to range between approximately 14 and 31 degrees Celsius over the next six days.
