Zack Snyder’s upcoming two-part space epic “Rebel Moon” is getting a prequel comic series titled “Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe”.
The Titan Comics title delves into the history of the Bloodaxe family, their personal and familial struggles, and the various conflicts they faced before the events of the film.
In the films, the Bloodaxe’s are brother and sister outlaws Darrian (Ray Fisher) and Devra (Cleopatra Coleman) who are recruited by Sofia Boutella’s Kora to fight against the tyrannical Mother World.
The comic is being dubbed a Shakespearean tragedy that takes place five years before the events of the first film. War threatens the planet of Shasu and forces the leader of the clan to quell disputes and determine either to follow his father’s brutal footsteps or work toward peace.
Eisner-nominated writer Mags Visaggio pens the comic, whilst Clark Bint is doing the art. It’s one part of a whole universe beyond the film Snyder wants to expand into. Also planned are a video game and a tabletop RPG.
The first of the two films, “Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire,” will be released on the service on December 22nd and is said to have a theatrical cut runtime of 133 minutes. “Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver” premieres in April.
