Eleven (“Sex Education”) is teaming with Sony Television International to former politician and novelist Jeffrey Archer’s “Kane and Abel” novel trilogy into a television series.
Penned between 1977 and 1982, the books followed two men born on the same day – one Polish and an illegitimate son of a Baron, the other rich and privileged from a wealthy Boston banking family.
Linked by an all-consuming hatred after a catastrophic incident, the two patriarchs blindly commit their lives to destroying one another’s empires – even as their paths cross only once across a six-decade span.
All three books – “Kane and Abel,” “The Prodigal Daughter” and “Shall We Tell The President” – will be incorporated into the series which is written by Sarah Quintrell (“His Dark Materials”) and executive produced by James Baker, Joel Wilson and Jamie Campbell.
The plan is for a long-running series as opposed to an event or mini-series. The property was previously adapted before, back in 1985 as a CBS series starring Sam Neill and Peter Strauss.
Archer’s books are said to have sold more than 275 million copies to date.
