It’s time to open your Spotify time capsules made in 2023 and create a new ‘Playlist in a Bottle’ to open next year. Here’s how to make the most of this limited time feature.
If you’re one of the many millions of Spotify users who created a “Playlist in a Bottle” — the streaming platform’s time capsule feature to showcase how your listening tastes might have evolved over the past year — then you’re in for a treat you can only access throughout the month of January.
You can now open your 2023 “bottle,” claiming your playlist to see which songs you sealed in your time capsule last year. All Spotify users can also create their time capsules to open in 2025, whether you created one for 2024 or not.

Regardless of whether you created a playlist last year, you can now create a new Playlist in a Bottle to open in 2025. Spotify has introduced a new set of questions this time around to help curate your playlist, such as, “What song brings out my alter ego?” This time, you can select from an array of “objects” other than a bottle (a snow globe, a flip phone, a bird’s nest, a rice cooker, or a dumpster) to use as your time capsule, and even write a note to your future self.
