Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch has confirmed that work is still taking place on the “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” remake which remains very much in “active development”.

Speaking with IGN, he was asked to definitively confirm that following its split from Embracer Group last month, Saber was still working on the game. Karch said:

“It’s clear and it’s obvious that we’re working on this. It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”

Despite Karch’s dismissive suggestion that the remake’s status is ‘obvious,’ questions around the fate of the game have been lingering for months.

The remake was announced as a timed PS5 console exclusive during a PlayStation Showcase event in September 2021.

Since then, reports suggested original developer Aspyr had stopped working on it and that Saber had taken over the game entirely.

Late last year rumors emerged that the game had been abandoned, but that seemed less likely when Embracer sold Saber last month and journalist Jason Schreier indicated that the remake was “going with Saber”.
