A man has been detained by Las Vegas police on suspicion of killing hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur in 1996.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis was taken into custody early on Friday, September 29, however it was not immediately apparent what charge(s) he was facing.
According to AP, an indictment was anticipated later on Friday.
On September 7, 1996, Shakur was hurt in a drive-by shooting close to the Las Vegas Strip. At the age of 25, he passed away in a hospital six days later on September 13.

According to the AP, Davis has acknowledged in interviews and in his autobiographical 2019 book “Compton Street Legend” that he was in the Cadillac where the shooting started.
As part of the investigation into Shakur’s homicide, Las Vegas police executed a search warrant at Davis’ wife Pamela Clemons’ Henderson, Nevada, residence in July of this year.
According to a search warrant obtained by The Post, police seized multiple computers, laptops, and iPads from the residence along with a.40-caliber cartridge, which is the same type as the numerous shells found at the scene of Shakur’s shooting.
Former LAPD detective Greg Kading, who looked into Tupac’s demise, said to The Post on Friday that Davis “provided the gun and he actively sought out Tupac with his nephew.”

“After giving his nephew, who was riding in the car with them, the gun, Davis and the others proceeded outside with the intention of shooting Tupac. Since his nephew fired the rifle and he supplied the gun, they are all equally guilty of soliciting murder.
“I am really excited because this is huge,” Kading continued. We were aware that this was not an unresolved matter, and it appears that they have progressed to the stage where a formal closure is possible. Tupac’s murder will not be regarded as an unsolved case for the rest of history.
Tupac’s life was abruptly ended while he and his pals were in a convoy heading to a nightclub in Las Vegas following their viewing of the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon world heavyweight title fight.
A white Cadillac drew up next to the black BMW Shakur was riding in, and the gunman inside fired at least nine rounds, seemingly towards the passenger seat where Shakur was positioned.
