“American Horror Story” and “The Gilded Age” regular Taissa Farmiga is currently in cinemas with “The Nun II” and scoring good notices for her work.
This week, the Happy Sad Confused podcast posted a previously recorded but unpublished interview from last year with Farmiga in which she discusses various projects and her life.
In the chat she discussed her failed audition for the “Star Wars” franchise. The actress says she and her brother grew up “Star Wars” fans with big part of that being the “The Old Republic” video game.
She reveals she went up for a part in Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” but it didn’t work out as she went in both overly anxious and over-excited to potentially be doing “Star Wars”:
“I didn’t do so well because I wanted it so badly that’s why I try to keep my expectations… I couldn’t do it [play cool & calm]. It was hard because those auditions, it was one of the only times that I had to do a cold read where they didn’t send any materials for it. You can get there an hour ahead of time and usually I’m good at memorizing lines like it goes quick and easy, but I was just like so… ‘oh this would be so cool’.”
It’s not clear what role in the film she was up for, with podcast host Josh Horowitz suggesting potentially Kelly Marie Tran’s role of Rose Tico or that character’s sister who dies in the opening sequence.
Whatever the case, Farmiga says she’s “open to anything” when it comes to potential future roles.
