A live-action Teen Titans is in development at DC Studios, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira penning the screenplay, THR reports.
Little is known about the feature save Nogueira’s reported involvement, including whether it will be part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. However, it’s big news in light of the animated Teen Titans Go, which got a movie of its own back in 2018 and the much-loved series that ran from 2003 to 2006.
Teen Titans has proven successful thanks to the popularity of the animated series and more.
Titans, a live-action series that was also based on the Teen Titans, streamed on HBO Max from 2018 to 2023 before ending following its fourth season.
“The decision to end the series precedes us. But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows,” James Gunn said of Titans at the time.
While it’s unclear what role the new Teen Titans movie will play at DC Studios, the time is ripe for a fresh start. Nogueira’s involvement is particularly interesting given her role in developing Supergirl, which stars Milly Alcock and is a key part of the DCU’s initial roadmap. Nogueira was reportedly hired to write a Supergirl film that followed on from The Flash, only for those plans to be scrapped after the film disappointed in the box office.
