The Tenacious D fallout continues as fans post videos of Jack Black’s reaction to Kyle Gass’ comments on-stage. Now, just days after posting an apology for a crass comment made about the attempted assassination on former President Trump, Gass has deleted the apology from Instagram.

Following news that Jack Black was cancelling the remaining Tenacious D tour dates in Australia, fans have began posting Black’s reaction to Gass’s comments online. Black took to social media to cancel the remaining tour dates after a comment Kyle Gass made on stage. Black presented Gass with a birthday cake to celebrate his 64th and asked him to make a wish. Gass responds, “don’t miss Trump next time.”

The comment is in reference to an assassination attempt on the former President, which happened at a rally in Pennsylvania the previous day. The audience and Jack Black laughed along at the comment in the posted footage, though the comments rose ire among politicians in Australia. Several politicians took to social media to call for Tenacious D to be deported back to the United States. After the furor, Jack Black took to social media to apologize stating he was ‘blindsided by Gass’ and the comment he made.

A post with a video of Jack Black’s reaction to the comment has appeared on social media with the comment, “So Black clearly found [the comment] funny then, I mean, literally visually and obviously found it funny until someone told him not to.”

Other commenters side with Black on the issue, stating: “I think it comes down to ‘too soon.’ The tone was clearly not out of character, but JB is a corporate entity, and that comes with cringe, soul sucking responsibilities.”

Gass apologized for making the comment initially, saying “the line I improvised on-stage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”

Now, three days later—Gass has removed the apology entirely. It’s worth noting that while the former President was shot at and the shooter missed his intended target, two people were critically injured and one was killed. In addition to removing the apology, Gass apparently liked a comment from a Tenacious D fan account encouraging the return of the band. Gass’ long-time agent dropped him in the aftermath of these comments.
