Apple TV+ has renewed its wild historical drama “The Buccaneers” for a second season.
Based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel, the series centers on a group of fun-loving American girls who “explode” into tightly corseted and traditional London in the 1870s.
They kick off an Anglo-American culture clash as the Brits are infiltrated by a disregard for centuries of tradition.
“Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying ‘I do’ is just the beginning” says the synopsis.
Christina Hendricks, Imogen Waterhouse, Matthew Broome, Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Aubri Ibrag, Mia Threapleton, Josh Dylan, Barney Fishwick and Guy Remmers star.
Series creator Katherine Jakeways says in a statement: “We know Season 1 left audiences desperate to know what’s next for our buccaneers, so I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to explore the further adventures of this smart, joyful, messy sisterhood.”
The series was created by Katherine Jakeways and premiered on the service on November 8th with Susanna White directing. Beth Willis and Jakeways executive produce.
