The Comet Is Coming Cancel Final Concert in Solidarity With Palestine

The Comet Is Coming, who were due to play their final show tonight in Bratislava, have canceled the concert “in solidarity with the global call to strike by our Palestinian brothers and sisters who are in the midst of a genocidal assault.” The group’s last statement, it said, “is a call for immediate ceasefire, an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine and routine violence against the Palestinian people.”

The Comet Is Coming are among the many artists who are going on strike in solidarity with Palestine. Additional participating musicians include Slauson Malone 1, Sama’ Abdulhadi, and Manuka Honey.

The trio of Shabaka Hutchings (also of Sons of Kemet, who broke up last year), Max Hallett (aka Betamax Killer), and Dan Leavers (aka Danalogue the Conqueror) formed in 2013 and swiftly became a lynchpin of the London jazz scene working out of Total Refreshment Centre. Their cosmic, electronic mix of jazz and Afrobeat grew to incorporate ambient and spoken word elements on their second album, 2019’s Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery, followed by The Afterlife the same year. They released their final album, Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam, last year.
