The complete paperback box set includes four full-color paperback volumes (1,440 total pages) in a sturdy slipcase and includes all Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that ever appeared in syndication, from its initial publication in 1985 to Bill Watterson’s retirement in 1995. This is as much an incredible gift to the millennial who has fond memories of reading Calvin and Hobbes in the Sunday full-color cartoon secton of the newspaper to the Gen Alpha kid who has never been introduced to the series.
The paperback set is far higher quality and more robust than what you’d normally expect a paperback series to be, with good binding and thick paper stock. The cartoons are in black & white or color, depending on how they were first published. Many people actually prefer the paperback to the hardcover editions. The hardcovers are reported to be less durable because the sheer weight of the book makes it easy for the hardcover binding to pull right off.
