“The Dark Knight” Tops Nolan Best Film Poll

Warner Bros. Pictures

2008’s “The Dark Knight” has topped a new poll of over 120 film critics who voted on the best films directed by Christopher Nolan.

Conducted by World of Reel, the poll asked film journalists (myself included) and critics to name their top Nolan film. Strictly only one film could be named.

The result was the Christian Bale and Heath Ledger-led blockbuster, the second of Nolan’s three Batman films, topped the list with 30 votes out of 120.

Interestingly whilst “Batman Begins” came in at #9 with two votes, “The Dark Knight Rises” was one of only two Nolan films that didn’t garner a single vote (the other being “Tenet”).

“Memento” came in second with 23 votes, but the real story was third and fourth place which was a battle with “The Prestige” initially finishing in third place until a late surge for “Dunkirk” came in.

Ultimately the two were neck and neck with the WW2 epic’s 18 votes edging out the obsessive illusionist rivals drama with 17 votes.

“The Dark Knight” also tops IMDb polls for Nolan films with a 9.0 followed by “Oppenheimer” and “Inception” with 8.8, “Interstellar” with 8.7 and “The Prestige” with 8.5.

Head over to World of Reel for the full results to see where the likes of “Insomnia,” “Inception” and more ended up.
