Timothée Chalamet Surprises Fans at Look-Alike Contest in NYC
NEW YORK – Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet made an unexpected visit to a look-alike contest held in Lower Manhattan on Sunday, attracting a massive crowd of fans, a police dispersal order, and resulting in at least one arrest.
Accompanied by security personnel, Chalamet took a moment to snap pictures with his high-cheekboned, curly-haired impersonators. Many of these participants were dressed as characters from his films “Wonka” and “Dune.”
The fun began as the aspiring Chalamets strutted down a red carpet set up at Washington Square Park; however, police soon intervened to disperse the gathering. Organizers faced fines amounting to $500 for holding an “unauthorized costume contest.”
Reports indicate that at least one contestant was taken into custody for unspecified reasons. A representative from the NYPD stated that charges are likely forthcoming.
“This began as a lighthearted joke but quickly escalated into chaos,” remarked Paige Nguyen, who produced the event for YouTube star Anthony Po.
Prior to the event, organizers distributed flyers announcing the competition featuring a $50 prize for the winner. This generated buzz on social media platforms and led to thousands of RSVPs via an online invite.
A New Venue and Alternative Contest
After leaving Washington Square Park under duress from authorities, participants swiftly relocated to a nearby playground where over twelve contestants vied for audience cheers from an improvised stage.
The Quest for Characteristics
What constitutes a true “‘Chalamet’ look-alike?” According to 27-year-old graphic designer Lauren Klas: “It’s all about facial structure—especially his nose.”
Contest Questions Add Fun Twist
As they narrowed down their choices to just four finalists, judges posed amusing questions regarding French language skills, aspirations for world improvement strategies, and hypothetical romantic interests involving Kylie Jenner—rumored to be dating Chalamet.
Crowning of The Contest Winner
At last, Miles Mitchell emerged victorious—a 21-year-old Staten Island native donned in purple attire reminiscent of Willy Wonka while playfully tossing candy into the audience from his briefcase.
Standing next to an oversized novelty check marked “Best Tim,” Mitchell attracted admirers eager for photos or social media exchanges with him after being declared winner.
“I feel both thrilled and overwhelmed,” said Mitchell. “There were so many talented look-alikes—it truly could have gone any way.”
