Rumor has it that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are “hanging out.” Not dating. Hanging. After shooting his shot at the Eras Tour, it seems like Kelce may actually have a chance. An unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight that Kelce has had a crush on Swift for a while. “He is a simple guy that is very funny, charismatic, chill, and loves playing football.”
OK sure, he’s probably great. Still, you might be wondering, how’d he pull this off? Earlier this year, Kelce attended one of Swift’s concerts—and like any good Swiftie, he made her a friendship bracelet. Cute, right? Well, that depends on what you’re into. The bracelet had his number on it. Kelce planned to give it to her after the show, but his orchestrated meet-cute was shut down. He later explained the misstep on his podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce. When his brother, Jason, asked how the concert went, Travis said, “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows, because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings.” Then, he claimed to be “a little butthurt” about the situation.
A clip of the Kelce brothers’ conversation floated around Twitter. If you watch the video, Travis’s story sounds akin to a shy boy asking the most popular girl to prom. But don’t be fooled! There’s typical jock-ery at play. Just when Travis has you on his side, his brother asks if the digits were his jersey number or phone number. With a raised brow and smug grin, Travis replies, “You know which one.”
“She doesn’t meet anybody, or at least she didn’t want to meet me,” he continues, “So, I took it personal.” Travis, babe, in the game of love, the first rule is to know who you’re playing with. Taylor Swift is a global pop star with an insane schedule. She doesn’t have time for silly bracelet schemes! Now that you’ve got her attention, I’d advise coordinating a meet-up with her team. Or at least check to see if she’s a fan of yours as well. (Jason pointed out that Swift is a massive Eagles fan, so they may have some bad blood.)
Taylor, if you’re reading this, maybe you should give the guy a shot. Or don’t! It’s up to you. Either way, please remember these words of wisdom.
