Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming tenth and seemingly final directorial feature “The Movie Critic” is looking like a bit of a “Pulp Fiction” reunion, at least in terms of casting.
Previously it was reported a role had already been put aside for Samuel L. Jackson, and now Jeff Sneider is reporting that John Travolta is being eyed for a part as well.
Sneider’s report suggests the whole film has already been cast, but nothing has been made official yet due to the strike. The new report follows on from rumors a few weeks ago that “Black Bird” star Paul Walter Hauser had received an offer pre-strike for the lead role in the film.
The story reportedly follows a Travis Bickle-esque loner Los Angeles film critic in 1977 who reviews movies for an underground smut magazine. Previously Tarantino denied the project drew any inspiration from legendary film critic Pauline Kael.
Rather he said it was inspired by an “unspecified man” who wrote for a very specific kind of outlet at that time.
Sneider also hints that another “Pulp Fiction” actor will be a part of the film, which recently scored over $20 million in tax credits from the California Film Commission.
