“Kingsman” and “Kick-Ass” director Matthew Vaughn’s “Argylle” came and went with a wet thud, the costly $200 million film scored poor reviews from critics, a woeful C+ CinemaScore in exit polls, and has pulled in only $88 million worldwide in a month.
The result is widely considered the first major box-office bomb of the year, but that hasn’t stopped Vaughn who is already moving onto his next work producing “The Stuntman” which is already in production in England.
According to Variety, the film is the second in a trilogy of films set within a reboot of “Kick-Ass” world. The first is “School Fight,” a film about a teenager who fights with a classmate over a mutual romantic interest. That first one has already completed filming with footage first shown for it back in 2022.
Stunt man-turned-director Damien Walters helmed that project and is said to be directing “The Stuntman” as well which deals with two brothers who become stuntmen and is reportedly a 1970s period piece.
Walters is also likely to helm the third one which will be the reboot of “Kick Ass” with all three films said to be connected. Vaughn indicated last month he was halfway through scripting the new “Kick Ass” and is expected to produce that film.
Vaughn is also busy with “Project X,” another film set in the Argylle-verse movie with Chris Hemsworth and Sam Rockwell starring.
