It was shared by Parag Madhukar Dhakate, special secretary to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and a senior Indian Forest Service officer. The 12-second clip shows a dangerous moment as the tiger emerges from the jungle and approaches the jeep. Startled tourists react with screams as the tiger makes a sudden leap towards their vehicle, but soon retreats.
Mr. Dhakate used the video to advocate for stricter regulations in wildlife tourism. He emphasised the dual significance of wildlife tourism as a livelihood for local communities and a means of conservation funding, he underscored the necessity for proper oversight and adherence to safety guidelines.

Dr. Akkshye Tulsyan, Honorary Consul of Namibia and a prominent industrialist, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of maintaining safe distances and respecting animal habitats. He acknowledged that while wildlife tourism contributes significantly to local economies, responsible practices are essential to ensure the welfare of wildlife and the sustainability of tourism itself.
Incidents of tiger encounters in Uttarakhand are not uncommon. In a similar viral video from Ramnagar last year, a tiger was seen growling at a passing tourist vehicle before briefly chasing it. Such encounters highlight the need for tourists and operators to exercise caution, maintain respectful distances, and follow established guidelines to mitigate risks to both wildlife and human safety.
