Watch Boygenius Perform “Not Strong Enough” and “Satanist” on SNL

Boygenius made their Saturday Night Live debut on November 11. Joined by host Timothée Chalamet, the trio played “Not Strong Enough” and “Satanist.” They also appeared in a sketch as three hallucinated Troye Sivans. Check out their performance below.

Of Boygenius’ three members, Phoebe Bridgers is the only returning SNL guest. She appeared on the show for the first time in 2021, when she infamously smashed a guitar onstage. (This time around, Julien Baker threw her guitar offstage at the end of “Satanist.”) Boygenius’ other two members, Baker and Lucy Dacus, both made their SNL debuts.

Chalamet—set to play Bob Dylan in an upcoming biopic—first hosted the show in December 2020, alongside musical guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. He performed a Wonka-, SAG-inspired song of his own (complete with a rap break about having a baby face) during his monologue. He also revisited his role as an underwhelming white rapper in a sketch featuring impressions of Rick Rubin, Mary J. Blige, and Cornell West.

Yesterday, Boygenius received six Grammy nominations, including nods for Album and Record of the Year for their debut album The Record and “Not Strong Enough,” respectively. Boygenius released The Record in March, following it up with a four-song EP titled The Rest last month.
