Elon Musk bought Twitter, a brand whose name and bird imagery was recognized across the world, for $44 billion. Yesterday, he decimated the platform’s remaining value by renaming it “X.”
Musk’s obsession with the letter is well-documented, but he’s less obsessed with the details that accompany a name change this big. He tweeted (um… x’ed?) that posts on the site will now be called “x’s,” confusing apostrophe included. As for retweets, he said “That whole concept should be rethought.”
