With the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 now underway, we wanted to take a look at how the final team is decided for the BLAST World Final later this year.
Teams Already Qualified to the BLAST World Final 2023
As of right now, there are seven teams qualified for the BLAST World Final 2023. These are:
Heroic
Team Vitality
FaZe Clan
MOUZ
G2 Esports
Natus Vincere
ENCE
With eight teams participating, that leaves just one team left to qualify. Now, you may have noticed that four of the teams here (Heroic, FaZe Clan, Team Vitality, and Natus Vincere) are competing in the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023. This presents a slight dilemma in terms of that final spot. Why? Let’s get into it.
BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 Reward
On top of an eye-watering $200,000 cash prize, the winner of the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 also receives an automatic invite to the BLAST World Final 2023. It’s a reward that gives players that extra incentive to perform on the big stage. After all, who doesn’t want to play in the final Counter-Strike LAN of 2023?
However, for the four teams already qualified, this part of the prize is essentially redundant. This means that only Astralis, Cloud9, Complexity, and Ninjas in Pyjamas can receive this reward here.
What Happens If The Winner Has Already Qualified?
Luckily, BLAST has a system in place in the event that the winner of the Fall Final has already qualified for the World Final. If this is the case, the place will simply move to the highest rank team in the BLAST World Leaderboard that hasn’t already secured their place in the BLAST World Final.
Looking at the BLAST World Leaderboard right now puts both Astralis and Cloud9 in contention to take that final spot. The teams are currently separated by just 300 points in 7th and 8th place respectively. However, this will be impacted by their performance in the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023, so they’ll still want to give a good account of themselves to secure their places in the massive tournament coming up.
