The Met Gala was full of gorgeous looks and inventive designs. One thing that was missed? Blake Lively. The lack of a Blake Lively Met Gala 2024 appearance is sad, to be sure, but we’re sure she has a great reason for sitting this one out! She is, after all, a mom of four, star of two upcoming movies, and maybe she just wanted to give the other gals a chance to shine. Who can blame her?
It’s actually been two years since Blake Lively attended the Met Gala. She wowed at the 2022 Met Gala in a Versace gown that, like the Statue of Liberty, transformed from copper to green. But she, quite understandably, skipped the 2023 festivities because she was recently postpartum.

Thankfully, we have plenty of Blake Lively looks from Met Galas past. And there ain’t no Met Gala look like a Blake Lively Met Gala look because a Blake Lively Met Gala look matches the carpet! Lively is one of a handful of A-listers who are Met Gala faves, like Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and 2024 cochair Zendaya. Unlike those fashionistas, though, Lively, famously, doesn’t work with a stylist, preferring to choose her own pieces and communicate directly with designers. And only Blake is known for not only getting the theme right, but matching the carpet itself. It’s become a thing, and a thing Lively is very much aware of.

Of course, her husband Ryan Reynolds wasn’t there either. He’d never go stag, and he’s pretty busy, too. His next film, Deadpool & Wolverine, will probably be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, but we’re just as excited about Lively’s next films. Not only is she starring in the hotly anticipated adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling It Ends With Us, she and Anna Kendrick are reuniting for a sequel to the cult classic A Simple Favor. It’s almost as good as Blake Lively Met Gala 2024 look. Almost.
