The Korean and European #4 seeds DK and Team BDS will go up against each other in Worlds Swiss Stage Round 3. Who will stay alive and who will go home? Let’s find out in our breakdown.
Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage – DK vs BDS – October 23, 11:00 CET
Despite coming into the Swiss Stage with good expectations from both teams, Team BDS and DK have yet to win their first series. DK was quite unlucky with the draws, having gone against G2 and KT. In a similar fashion, Team BDS also got a strong team like JDG and then lost to MAD Lions on Day 2.
This now leaves both #4 seeds with one last series to redeem themselves. One of them will be leaving Worlds while the other will have another chance in the 4th round. With such high stakes in this series, let’s break down both teams and see who has the higher chance of going through.

Will Adam carry BDS over the line?
Going into the series, most fans would probably put DK over BDS, and I think that is probably the case. Having said that, I don’t think it will be such a big of a stomp, and that it might get closer than what people think.
Team BDS has gone through the play-in stage and crawled its way into the Swiss stage, mainly thanks to Adam who was able to create leads on his own up in the top lane. His pattern, however, has been slowly figured out. Both JDG and MAD have banned his main picks (except Sett). MAD, in particular, banned Garen, Darius, and Olaf in their match, putting Adam onto Renekton.
While it’s an effective way to neutralize him, I feel like DK won’t be able to take the same approach in their draft. The main reason is that forcing three top lane bans will give too much leeway for the other roles, especially in the bottom lane. Kellin hasn’t been performing well this tournament so far, and he is definitely a weak link BDS can punish. In other words, DK will find themselves in a tricky situation and will be forced to make a choice: in a Bo3 series, they might ended up bleeding a game.
Overall, however, I still think that DK will win due to their cleaner objective setup and teamfighting. Eastern teams are much better at coordinating the right plays in key moments of the game, allowing the game to get crucial advantages post-20 minutes. It’s a recurring trend that we’ve seen in most Swiss stage matches, and it will likely happen again in this series.
Prediction: DK 2 – 1 BDS
