Last night, Park Avenue welcomed the chic group of collectors, designers, philanthropists, and antique enthusiasts who came to the Young Collectors Night at The Winter Show, located in Manhattan’s Park Avenue Armory.
Each year, the Young Collectors Night benefits the East Side House—a community-based organization founded in 1891, which aims to provide quality education and essential resources to over 14,000 residents of the Bronx and northern Manhattan. The evening honored Carolina Herrera’s creative director Wes Gordon and partner, glass artist Paul Arnhold, and proudly displayed unique artifacts from 70 dealers across seven countries.
Over 700 guests sipped and guzzled espresso martinis and delectable hors d’oeuvres, with lively tunes courtesy of DJ Jade Croo. In a dazzling celebration of art and culture, guests made sure to strictly adhere to the dress code of the evening, which shimmered with the theme of a “jewel box.” The inspiration behind the opulent theme? The Green Vault in Dresden, Germany—one of the world’s oldest museums, renowned for housing Europe’s largest treasure collection. The rich emerald hue, often associated with an heirloom jewelry box, transformed attendees, such as Indré Rockefeller, Joelle El Sawalhi, Alexander Hankin, Kyle Marshall, Irene Neuwirth and more, into living gems themselves.
The evening featured pieces ranging from rare artworks to vintage accessories, spanning 5,000 years (including some stunning delft pots from the 1700s, Alexander Calder tapestries, and one-of-a-kind Tiffany lamps). 2024 also marks the 70th anniversary of The Winter Show. To commemorate, the event highlighted this year’s special exhibition titled “Focus: Americana”—a showcase that features America’s material culture with a line of paintings, furniture, folk art, and many more. With an evening filled with unparalleled elegance and history, it was impossible to walk away without savoring the beauty of such antiquity.
