The main event of this week’s show featured Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler taking on Big Bill, Ricky Starks, Mark Fletcher and Mark Davis.
Starks avoided having to face Yuta before their match tomorrow by tagging out to Fletcher as soon as the match began.
As is the case with most eight-man tag matches, everyone got a little bit of time in the ring, but only a couple of people stood out on each team. Yuta, Fletcher, Wheeler and Davis definitely had the most memorable moments individually.
This match had a lot of fun moves and sequences, but it never felt like either team had a clear advantage. The tide changed a few too many times.
Even with those minor complaints, this was a good way to close the show. The crowd was hot, the wrestlers were having a good time hitting multi-man spots, and the announcers were having fun with ZSJ at the table.
However, it felt like the ending to the match may have been screwed up. Wheeler clearly made it in time to break up Starks’ pin on Harwood, but the ref still counted to three and called for the bell.
Danielson and Sabre had a staredown to close out the show and send us into the PPV on Sunday.
Result: Starks, Big Bill and Aussie Open
Notable Moments and Observations
Zack Sabre Jr. was great on commentary. He has good comedic timing. Harwood and Davis had a fun exchange of strikes. Yuta has a great German suplex. The four-way Yes Kick spot was a lot of fun.
