LANSING, MI, November 01, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Andrew Minegar has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.
Minegar presently excels as a news reporter for the Michigan Information & Research Service, or MIRS, in Lansing, Michigan. In this capacity, he focuses his reporting on policy and politics within the Michigan state government and liaises with several state entities that fall under the purview of the governor, and the Office of Governor. His beat includes the government departments that deal with housing, budget, economics, transportation, cannabis, natural resources, elections, civil rights, internal government staff, and many others.
Previously, Minegar honed his journalistic skills as a digital and social media producer, photojournalist, editor and television production with WWMT-TV News Channel 3 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
During the early stages of his career, Minegar gained valuable professional expertise in journalism with his reporting internship at WMUK 102.1 FM, through which he won the WMUK Scholarship in Radio. He also worked at the Western Herald, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College Career Source, while doing freelance journalism in the area.
Before embarking on his professional journey, he earned an associate degree in communications from Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 2006. Subsequently, Minegar expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in graphic imaging from Western Michigan University in 2010. During that time Minegar was inducted to several honor societies, including Lambda Beta Pi, Sigma Delta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
In recognition of his outstanding body of work, Minegar was part of a newsroom that had won several awards from the Associated Press, Michigan Association of Broadcaster awards, and was part of a team that won a local Edward R. Morrow Award. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in being the journalist who broke the story of a tragic mass shooting that occurred in Kalamazoo on Feb. 20, 2016, during his tenure as an assignment editor with WWMT-TV News Channel 3.
The cornerstone of his success lies in his tenacity and remaining resolute in pursuit of his goals. In the coming years, Minegar aims to improve upon his skills and experience continued success in his career.
