Luxury marque Bentley unveils all-new ‘Ultra Performance V8 Hybrid’ to replace the W12 as its pinnacle powertrain.
All-new, performance-focused V8 hybrid powertrain will drive the next phase of its Bentley’s Beyond 100 journey.
Hybrid powertrain dubbed the Ultra Performance Hybrid puts out 739-hp and allows a 50 mile (80 km) electric-only range.
Combined output is 89 hp more than what the W12 engine offered in the Flying Spur and GT W12 Speed derivatives.
About 105,000 units of Bentley’s iconic W12 engine would have been built when production finally ceases this year.
Bentley Motors on Wednesday announced that its iconic W12 engine will be succeeded by an all-new, performance-focused V8 hybrid powertrain that is set to power the brand’s new generation of daily supercars.
Dubbed the Ultra Performance Hybrid, the new hybrid powertrain puts out more than 739 horsepower, which is 89 hp more than what the W12 engine offered in the Flying Spur and GT W12 Speed derivatives. It also allows a 50 mile (80 km) electric-only range.

The Ultra Performance Hybrid will drive the next phase of its Bentley’s Beyond 100 journey. Bentley Motors has promised to reveal more details of its new electrified powertrain over the coming weeks.
The all-new, performance-focused V8 hybrid powertrain will replace the 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 engine that “has metaphorically and literally powered Bentley’s success for the last two decades”.

According to the British luxury marque, about 105,000 units of Bentley’s iconic W12 engine would have been built in two decades when production finally ceases this year.
Amongst the cars that Bentley’s iconic W12 engine will power before its discontinuation is the 740-horsepower, limited-edition Batur Convertible by Mulliner bespoke division, which arrived on Tuesday as the final W12 Coachbuild masterpiece.
