An explosion took place at a hospital in Gaza, killing over 500 people on Tuesday. There have been conflicting reports as to what caused the blast. Initial posts from Hamas supporters on X blamed an IDF airstrike while new reports are claiming it was an Islamic Jihad rocket barrage heading toward Israel that struck the hospital.
“Intelligence from multiple sources we have indicates that the PIJ organization is responsible for the failed launch that hit the hospital,” stated IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.
“An analysis of IDF operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the hospital at the time it was hit,” Hagari added.
Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu stated: “The entire world should know: It was barbaric terrorists in Gaza that attacked the hospital in Gaza, and not the IDF. Those who brutally murdered our children also murder their own children.”
Multiple leaders across the globe prematurely came forward condemning Israel for an alleged attack, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He told reporters, “The news coming out of Gaza is horrific and absolutely unacceptable … international law needs to be respected in this and in all cases. There are rules around wars and it’s not acceptable to hit a hospital.”
Jack Posobiec reported on this as the news broke, warning his viewers on Human Events Daily that “We don’t seem to have any evidence directly of who conducted this, or how it was conducted,” adding that “we have to understand that this is what Hamas wants.”
Other US officials such as Ilhan Omar have posted to social media pinning the explosion on the IDF. She stated that “Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes” and called on Joe Biden to “push for an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter.”
