The German carmaker will locally assemble the Q6 L e-tron, Q6 L Sportback e-tron and A6 L e-tron electric vehicles.
EVs will be produced by FAW-Audi, Audi’s Chinese joint venture with state-owned First Automobile Works.
Each of these EVs will use the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture that Audi co-developed with Porsche.
China-only Long Wheelbase variants of three all-electric Audi models will be powered by battery-packs supplied by BYD and CATL, the world’s largest EV Battery supplier, Car News China report, citing people familiar with the matter.

While Audi will use BYD’s lithium-ion phosphate to power the lower trim levels, the higher-end models will use the CATL’s most expensive and higher-energy density NMC batteries.
These three models will be handled by a joint venture’s $2.8 billion (20 billion yuan) facility in Changchun, Jilin province, currently being constructed with FAW. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, according to Car News China.
The Audi Q6L e-tron will be the first EV to roll off the production line of the Changchun plant. Each of these EVs being built at this site will use the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture that Audi co-developed with Porsche.
