The honorees for the 2024 Urban One Honors have been revealed. Chlöe, Dionne Warwick—fresh off her Kennedy Center Honors acknowledgement—Donald Lawrence, and Frankie Beverly are all set to be celebrated for their respective accomplishments at this year’s show.
The Urban One Honors is considered to be “the ultimate celebration of Black Excellence” with this year’s theme being “Best In Black.” Warwick has been named as the Lifetime Achievement Honoree while Beverly is this year’s Living Legend. Chlöe will receive the Generation Next Honor and Lawrence will receive the Inspirational Impact award.
“As we unveil the lineup for this year’s ‘URBAN ONE HONORS,’ we are delighted to highlight the incredible musical journeys of Dionne Warwick, Chlöe, Frankie Beverly, and Donald Lawrence. Their selection as honorees is a recognition of their profound impact on both music and culture, spanning generations,” said Michelle Rice, President of TV One and CLEO TV, in a statement. “From soulful ballads to timeless contributions and contemporary brilliance, these iconic artists have not only shaped the musical landscape but have also contributed significantly to the cultural fabric of our society. Each honoree represents a unique chapter in the story of music, and we are honored to celebrate their enduring legacies at this year’s Urban One Honors: Best In Black.”
Teyana Taylor, Bebe Winans, Damon Little, Angie Stone, and October London are all set to perform throughout the event, with more announcements to come. The two-hour telecast will also feature a R&B Divas reunion between KeKe Wyatt, Chanté Moore, and Nicci Gilbert. LeToya Luckett will return as the official backstage host. The Destiny’s Child alum is also hosting the red carpet.
The 2024 Urban One Honors will kick off TV One‘s 20th anniversary celebrations taking place throughout the rest of the year. TV One will roll out “an array of special programming, featuring curated retrospectives, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, and a series of commemorative events.” Viewers can expect interviews with key figures who helped shape the network over the years as they reflect on definitive moments.
The 2024 Urban One Honors will take place on Jan. 20 in Atlanta before airing on Feb. 25 on TV One and CLEO TV.
