Concerned Voices for Youth and Sustainability (CVYS) has once again raised alarms over the escalating ecological threats posed by unchecked developmental activities in Nagaland. Highlighting the fragile balance of the state’s environment, CVYS called for immediate action to halt projects and practices that compromise the region’s biodiversity and natural resources. The youth organization emphasized that preserving Nagaland’s ecology is not just an environmental imperative but a necessity for sustaining the livelihoods of indigenous communities dependent on forest and water resources.

CVYS outlined key activities that must be strictly regulated or banned to prevent further degradation:

  • Illegal logging and deforestation
  • Unregulated mining and quarrying
  • Encroachment on wildlife habitats
  • Pollution of rivers and water bodies
  • Construction without environmental clearance
Activity Impact Recommended Action
Illegal Logging Loss of forest cover, habitat destruction Strict monitoring, community patrols
Mining Activities Soil erosion, water contamination Temporary suspension, impact assessment
River Pollution Decline in aquatic life Cleanup drives, enforcement of pollution laws
