Cardi B’s career is a testament to what can happen when talent and technology combine. The Bronx native parlayed social media stardom into global pop music acclaim by leveraging her personality, wit, and love of the culture birthed in her borough. Her viral Instagram moments, Love And Hip Hop confessionals, and mixtape hustle all led up to her mainstream debut album, Invasion Of Privacy, and after April 6, 2018, it was clear Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar was no gimmick.

Standing as Cardi B’s career peak thus far, Invasion Of Privacy received critical acclaim upon release. Debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, the album won the mother-of-two the Album Of The Year recognition at the 2019 BET Awards.

Additionally, she became the first solo woman to win Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards that same year. Also up for the coveted Album Of The Year category, the trophy placed the chart-topper among the ranks of female emcees including Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Eve, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, and Salt-N-Pepa, all of whom have at least one golden gramophone.

Despite the massive success of her first offering, the 31-year-old has not rushed a follow-up. While it has been teased that the project is due this year, the “Bodak Yellow” rhymer has confirmed that she’s focused on her guest verses and likely won’t be giving us a full body of work by year’s end.

While Bardi Gang, rap fans, and the music industry at large await the second coming of Cardi B, she’s kept listeners fed with features across Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and Latin genres. With the ability to deliver top-tier verses in English, Spanish, and Spanglish, the rapper reaches multiple audiences with her messages of self-confidence, love, and heartbreak, evolving from rags to riches, and having the flyest threads.

This is not putting the diamond-certified rapper against her peers or collaborators, it is strictly Cardi Vs. Cardi. Considering lyrical content and wordplay, flow and delivery, impact and success, and overall enjoyment and entertainment, VIBE ranks Cardi B’s 34 feature verses (as of June 3, 2024) dropped after Invasion Of Privacy.

Although she was the last added to the track, the Bronx rapper kicks off the updated version as soon as the beat drops. Cardi B used the opportunity to question, “Should I take off on these h*es?”

In the remainder of the verse, she answers by taking the time to throw jabs at BIA as a lyrical battle between the two heats up. Diss aside, the verse features Cardi’s signature comedic charm with lines including “And my toes white like Matthew McConaughey.”

Cardi B returns to her Bronx roots with Kay Flock, Dougie B, and Bory 300 on “Shake It.” The New York drill track is the perfect arena for Cardi to flex her street status, channeling her early, grimy, mixtape rhymes. While she has certified herself as a global popstar, the feature is a reminder that Big Bardi can do it all. She adds an almost growling inflection and screeching threats to the verse, making lines such as “I pull up to your window like drive-thru/Come get showered with bullets, no bridal,” that much more menacing.

FendiDa Rappa Feat. Cardi B – “Point Me 2”

FendiDa Rappa‘s viral “Point Me to the Sl*t’s” got the Cardi B blessing with the remix “Point Me 2,” giving the Chicago rapper her first appearance on the Billboard charts. The feature brings undeniable charisma exuded from the Bronx rapper in her verse, balancing the potent street song with playful, sexual charm. Still, Cardi B maintains the menacing nature of the track, rhyming, “Scared to face me by they self, they start recruitin’ sh*t/ I call them pu**y to their face, they don’t be doin’ sh*t.”

Normani Feat. Cardi B – “Wild Side”

An R&B track is Cardi B‘s biggest playground, and in Normani‘s “Wild Side,” she proved why. Slow jam Cardi delivers her raunchiest punchlines with a softer tone, without shedding her bossy nature. The sensual, provocative track finds the rapper demanding “It’s my d**k and I want it now,” and boasting “I can do it all, I can probably suck a watermelon through a straw,” balancing Normani’s sultry vocals and steamy entendres.

City Girls Feat. Cardi B – “Twerk”

When Cardi B links up with other rap girls, the result is typically a fun anthem that can soundtrack any spirited ladies’ night, and “Twerk” with City Girls is no different. The East Coast musician takes it down south, asserting herself as a “Thick b**ch God’s gift to a d**k, woo,” over the “Choppa Style” interpolation. Her effortless delivery makes this feature a fan-favorite to rap along to and shake some a**.

Blueface Feat. Cardi B – “Thotiana Remix”

Cardi B took Blueface‘s track and made it her own with the “Thotiana (Remix).” Outshining the California rapper on his breakthrough track, the Bronx “Binderella” delivered some career-best punchlines over the Scum Beats-produced song. Her signature “Cardi” adlib, shouted before the verse began, awakened her sharp delivery skills as she gets into “real sh*t,” and “real life.” Her pacing on “Thotiana (Remix)” allows listeners to catch every brilliant bar, and also rap along to the catchy, viral moment.

Offset Feat. Cardi B – “Clout”

Of all of their current collaborations, Offset and Cardi B locked in the hardest on “Clout.” The duo is perfectly matched, and in Cardi’s verse, she realizes her status, rising from humble beginnings to someone whose daily moves are tracked by blogs and others with ulterior, money-making motives.

Pardison Fontaine Feat. Cardi B – “Backin It Up”

Another moment where Cardi B outshines the leading artist, she completely dominated Pardison Fontaine‘s “Backin It Up.” Most of Bardi Gang recognizes Pardi as a frequent collaborator of the Bronx rapper, co-writing some of her biggest hits. On this track, she proves why she is the star. Starting her verse, “I was gettin’ some head, get-gettin’ some head/Ran down on a b**ch, she almost pissed on her leg,” the tone was set for Cardi B to claim her crown.

Latto Feat. Cardi B- “Put It On The Floor Again”

Latto tagged Cardi B in for “Put It On The Floor Again,” and the collaboration is a direct threat to unnamed b**ches. It’s clear, however, that anybody can catch smoke.

Cardi B takes the latter half of the track and pops it off with a verse that commands instant replay. She puts her unbothered persona in the spotlight, recognizing “These h*es don’t do enough,” leaving it up to her to do the most.

GloRilla Feat. Cardi B- “Tomorrow 2”

Image Credit: Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for dcp

One of Cardi B‘s biggest skills is the ability to channel another artist’s style with her own finesse, not losing her individuality, yet perfectly matching various sounds, styles, and themes. “Tomorrow 2” is the best example thus far in her career.

Teaming up with GloRilla, the potent verse features comedic one-liners, menacing threats, boisterous onomatopoeias, and arrogant brags. The verse lays down her allegiance to her friends and herself, and cemented the Grammy-winning musician as one of Hip-Hop’s most exciting feature artists.
