Gillie Da Kid’s Eldest Son, YNG Cheese, Reportedly Killed At 25 In Triple Shooting

Gillie Da Kid’s eldest son YNG Cheese has reportedly been shot and killed following a triple shooting In Philadelphia Thursday night, a source close to the situation confirmed to NBC10.

The outlet reports that a 25-year-old man, later identified as Gillie’s son, was shot in the back around 8;30 p.m. in the Olney neighborhood.

Police then drove him to nearby Einstein Medical Center, CBS News reports. However, he was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m.

“Lil cuz, usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you. Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life, Cheese. I got your father; rest well,” Gillie’s podcast partner and cousin Wallo posted on Instagram.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were also shot in the incident, where ten spent shell casings were located at the scene, per NBC10. However, no weapons were recovered.

Those two victims were transported to the same hospital. Both were listed in stable condition as of Friday (Jul. 21).

Both outlets report that no arrests have been made as of yet in the fatal shooting. No motive was provided as of Friday, either.

Gillie Yet To Publicly Speak On Son’s Death, Set To Host Gillie Fest Next Weekend

Cheese’s father, Gillie Da Kid, is well-known in the city’s rap scene. Gillie, real name Nasir Fard, hosts the popular hip-hop podcast “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” alongside his cousin Wallo267.

Gillie himself has yet to speak on his son’s reported death publicly. According to the Bowery Presents, he’s scheduled to host Gillie Fest next Saturday night (Jul. 29) at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia.

The event is a concert and comedy show honoring Gillie’s birthday.

Philly Sees 236 Homicides This Year As Of Friday (Jul. 21), On Course For Deadliest Year Since 2007

Meanwhile, the city has seen 236 homicides this year as of this article’s publication, Philadelphia Police Department report.

According to NBC Philly, the City of Brotherly Love is on course for its deadliest year since at least 2007, when the city began tallying such information.

However, homicides in 2023 are still down 23 percent compared to the same time frame last year, the outlet reports.
