An elderly couple rekindled their love and agreed to spend the rest of their lives together 60 years after first meeting.
In a now-viral TikTok video, Thomas is seen waiting at the Tampa International Airport for his beloved Nancy to deplane.
“POV: The doctor you work with rekindles with his high school sweetheart from 60 years ago and proposes,” the caption written by @jobuns_ reads.
The video then switches to show the man down on one knee reading a speech from a piece of paper as his sweetheart sobs and holds his hand.
The clip ends with shots of the couple and their friends celebrating their engagement with handmade signs and balloons.
Thousands of people loved the snippets of the special moment and begged to hear the touching speech.
The touching proposal was recorded by Thomas’ staff and posted to TikTok where several versions of the sweet moment went viral.
In a TikTok video posted by Ada Yamila Vila, Thomas greets Nancy with a hug, a bouquet of roses and a box of jewelry before sitting her down. He then places a small pillow on the ground before getting down on one knee.
“My dearest Nancy, it’s been 60 years since we first met, 56 years since we first dated, 10 years since I saw you last and 20 days since we rekindled,” Thomas began. “You have always been the one I had a crush on since your cheerleader days. Brings me a smile to my face and makes my heart skip a beat.”
“Your beauty inside and out have always captivated me. Your kindness and compassion to those less fortunate … have touched my heart.”
Thomas and Nancy got engaged in the Tampa International Airport after she landed in the airport.
He continued listing the reasons why he loves her and how much he enjoyed recently reconnecting with her.
“You are everything I’ve ever wanted in a partner, lover and friend, and so, Nancy, I come to you humbly today June 30th with a proposal,” Thomas said.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you to cherish every moment we will have together, to make every day an exciting new adventure, to grow old with you and wake up in your arms every morning, to share our dreams and aspirations, to laugh and cry and support one another through thick and thin.
“I love you more than words can express, more than you could ever comprehend. I want to spend the rest of my life proving that to you making you the happiest woman in the world.”
Reaching the end of the touching speech, Thomas asked: “Will you, Nancy, do me the honor of being my soulmate in life, my partner in every sense of the word, my beloved wife forever? Marry me?”
The stunned woman could barely get words out as she sobbed and shook her head yes.
“Oh, yes,” Thomas exclaimed, then excitedly throwing his arms in the air before the two embraced.
