A while ago before LEGO Fortnite and a bunch of other game modes were introduced, Fortnite being dead was something that started to surface on the internet and social media. As an epic response to this, Fortnite even released the iconic Dead Game skin in the game, referring to the people who would go out of their way to state that Fortnite is dying.
Ever since then, it feels like the game has constantly been showered with even more new collaborations, themed events, challenges, and content updates, which keeps players engaged. Even more so in Chapter 5 Season 1 with all the exciting new features like the medallions and weapon attachments.

According to Fortnite.gg, Fortnite averages over three million concurrent players in December 2023. The game also reached its peak of a whopping eleven million players earlier this month. This is to be expected, given that the current chapter has so much to offer.

Is Fortnite Dying?
So, is Fortnite dying? Twitch Metrics shows that Fortnite is the third most-watched category, with over two million viewer hours in the past month. Not to mention, it’s also the second most streamed video game and claims the first spot in the highest peak viewership category based on the site’s stats.
With the number of active players, ongoing live events, content updates, and viewership combined, it’s safe to say that Fortnite is not dying. Even when the state of the game went a bit stale by the end of Chapter 2, Fortnite is still getting lots of hype, especially considering they’ve been re-releasing extremely rare cosmetics into the Item Shop lately, like the Black Widow and Stranger Things skins.
