Kodak Black has joined the ranks of esteemed rappers who have been honored with their own day. The special event unfolded during a tailgate celebration at a Florida Atlantic University football game, where the South Florida rap sensation was presented with a plaque by the Florida senator, officially declaring “Kodak Black Day.”

The “Walk” rapper received the distinction of having a day named after him in Palm Beach County. The presentation occurred during a tailgate event at a Florida Atlantic University football game in Boca Raton on November 11.

Kodak proudly accepted a plaque from Florida senator Bobby Powell, who declared Nov. 11 “Kodak Black Day” in Palm Beach County. The rapper wore a blue “Make America Great Again” hat and a matching MAGA jacket featuring former president Donald Trump’s logo.

While holding the plaque and standing next to Kodak, Powell said “[I have] a proclamation to recognize on November 11, 2023, 11-11 in West Palm Beach, Delray[Beach], Pompano[Beach], Broward[County] as Kodak Black Day,” Powell said on stage.

The crowd cheered for Kodak as he accepted the plaque and shook hands with Powell and took a photo with the plaque.

The announcement of “Kodak Black Day” in Palm Beach County elicited numerous reactions from social media users. Commenting on his status in Florida, one user with the handle @notaustinreaves stated, “I guess we know who the king of Florida is.” Another user named @lildamon17 simply celebrated the occasion, commenting with a “W for Kodak.”

The irony of Kodak Black wearing full MAGA regalia while being honored with a day by Democratic Senator Bobby Powell was not missed. Kodak has shown allegiance to the MAGA leader since he received a presidential pardon from Trump in 2021.

Senator Bobby Powell has been a fierce critic of Donald Trump, who he lambasted for his role in the January 6 2021 insurrection at the nation’s capitol.

In a statement made on the 1 year anniversary, Powell called out Trump directly saying, “The attack was instigated by Donald Trump to maintain his grip on power, and fueled by his “Big Lie,” an unfounded and discredited conspiracy theory that the election was somehow taken from him. The lie was embraced by his followers in the run-up to the January 6th attack, and continues to be embraced today. “Nowhere has this been more apparent than here in Florida.”

In other recent news involving Kodak Black, he was a guest on the Drink Champs podcast in October and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and fans on social media posted their concerns about him. Users on Twitter (X) felt that Kodak shouldn’t have been on the show due to his questionable well-being.

Kodak Black was also celebrated in 2022 in Broward county at the first annual “Kodak Black Day” festival. The festival provided carnival rides, games, vendors and performances from rappers such as Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee and French Montana.

Rappers are being honored with special recognition across the country, especially this bannner Hip-Hop 50 year. 50 Cent was recognized by the Connecticut governor with “50 Cent Day” on August 11 for his contributions to music and his ownership of a former mansion in the area.
