The United Kingdom-headquartered industrial data and engineering consultancy Imrandd has been hired to deliver a late life inspection optimization program for pressure systems on the remaining producing platforms operated by CNR International UK (CNRI) in the North Sea.

This contract will enable Imrandd’s team of six industrial data scientists and engineers to use existing data from CNRI’s three offshore installations to identify where inspection requirements could be removed or modified. While CNRI is in the process of planning the decommissioning of the Ninian Southern and Ninian Central platforms, Tiffany is set to continue to produce hydrocarbons.

As decommissioning becomes more and more prevalent, it is essential late life strategies are optimised to ensure cost and efficiency savings.

“Managing complex offshore infrastructures is often a delicate balance between leveraging vast volumes of legacy inspection data and integrating a stream of new inputs from ongoing inspections. Because of these challenges, accurate planning and predicting the need for engineering, inspection, and maintenance activities is critical to maintaining performance and saving operators valuable time and investment.”

Imrandd’s team will evaluate the risk, probability of failure, and integrity status of current safety-critical equipment, in a bid to deliver management plans that focus on reducing operational costs without compromising on integrity. The Aberdeen firm’s EXTRACT software, which digitizes legacy asset information, will be used in the initial phases of the project.

The company explains that its advanced Large Language Model feature will be deployed in the third stage to enhance the insights available from Ninian Central and Tiffany, taking data at the line level to provide additional in-depth and consistent sets of classifications.

This late life integrity management scope with CNRI will ensure that the operator is fully armed with the most robust and trusted information to make responsive and effective decisions with confidence,” added Auchterlonie.

While reporting its result for 3Q 2023, Imrandd underlined that it had won 11 contracts indicating a 27% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year. As a result, 13 data scientists and multi-discipline engineers were recruited, increasing its headcount to 63.
