With more than three decades of excellence in physical management, rehabilitation and wound care, Dr. Griffith has earned distinction as the medical director of advanced wound care for the Franciscan Physician Network. Since 2010, he has focused his efforts on serving as a trading physician for the network, including attending trade shows and symposia to engage with other professionals on updates to healthcare practices and management. He also provides quality assurance, supervision and education for the nursing and pharmacy students in the wound care clinic. Additionally, he lends his expertise as the board president of the Clinton County Historical Society and is a valued member of the American Board of Wound Healing.
Before starting his private career, Dr. Griffith served honorably as a military officer and lieutenant commander for the LCDR Medical Corps of the Untied States Navy Reserve from 1983 until 1989. Following this time, he resumed service in 2008 as a military officer colonel and commander of the medical section for the Indiana National Guard Reserve, a position he held until his retirement in 2022. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was presented for Special Achievement befitting State of Texas as the Admiral in the Texas Navy by Rick Perry Governor State of Texas in 2012.
Following his initial military service, Dr. Griffith began his career as the medical director of rehabilitation with St. Elizabeth Health in 1994, serving in this role for 20 years. Exercising his creative side, he authored “Heroes Next Door” in 2003 and “Neighborhood Headquarters” in 2005. He was also featured in Illinois Wesleyan University Magazine in 2006. Among these accomplishments, he was also admitted as a fellow to the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
To prepare for his professional journey in medicine, Dr. Griffith earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1977 and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine in 1981. Following these achievements, he completed a residency in general rehabilitation from the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1984. Well-qualified in his field, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also a certified wound specialist physician with a physician certification in wound care.
Within the coming years, Dr. Griffith intends to continue his medical career, focusing more of his time on his activity within the national wound care community. He is proud to have expanded the boundaries of wound care to ensure that the providers in the Franciscan Physician Network are properly certified experts in their respective fields, providing the highest quality wound care to patients in his community.
