New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected from Monday afternoon’s game against the Oakland Athletics in the most unusual way.
During the top of the first inning at Yankee Stadium, home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt was seen yelling at Boone after the manager questioned if Athletics hitter Esteury Ruiz swung during a hit-by-pitch advancement to first base. Wendelstedt shouted back “You got anything else to say, you’re gone.”
Well, right after this exchange, which was caught by hot mics on the field, a fan in the crowd heckled the umpire. Wendelstedt mistakingly thought the fan’s comment was from Boone, so he ejected him. Boone can be seen in the video just standing in the dugout not saying a word.
“I don’t care who said it. You’re gone!” Wendelstredt said.
Boone quickly ran onto the field in protest, shouting NSFW responses to the umpire.
“I did not say a word,” Boone said as he pointed to a fan in the crowd. “Bull—-. I did not say anything.”

A replay showed that a fan sitting in the front row behind the Yankees dugout is who actually yelled the unknown comment toward Wendelstredt.
