In the era of Russell Westbrook and and Nikola Jokic recording triple-doubles like they’re nothing, it’s easy to forget how rare they actually are. That is unless you’re a fan of the Utah Jazz, who haven’t seen one of their players post a 10-10-10 stat line since 2008. That changed Monday.
Jordan Clarkson put up 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists off the bench in a 37-point blowout over the Dallas Mavericks, and he got an extra push from head coach Will Hardy to complete the mission.
Mics caught Hardy challenging Clarkson to get his 10th rebound with just over three minutes left in the game. “Go get a rebound so I can sit your ass down.”
A minute later, that’s exactly what Clarkson did. He recorded Utah’s first triple-double since Carlos Boozer on Feb. 13, 2008.
Will Hardy on what he told Jordan Clarkson before his triple-double: “I said get a rebound and call time out immediately. I’m obviously not here to mess up a good time. I understand that I would’ve been maybe the most hated man in the building if I had subbed him out.” pic.twitter.com/FUVcgyYKJS

I don’t think sportsbooks had odds on a Clarkson triple-double, though FanDuel had Luka Doncic at +280, so you can imagine how long they would have been. Clarkson easily exceed his 22.5 points, rebounds and assists over.
