Mononoke the Movie: Karakasa Trailer Leaps into Action

A new trailer is here for Mononoke the Movie: Karakasa, which continues from the 2006 Mononoke TV anime when it opens in Japanese theaters tomorrow. The latest preview is full of action and the impeccable style we’ve come to expect from the series, so check it out below before the theatrical curtain rises.

Kenji Nakamura is directing once again for the anime film, with Twin Engine producing. Following a delay that moved it out of last year, Mononoke will open in Japan on July 26, 2024.

This follows the 12-episode Mononoke TV anime, which itself is a spinoff of the Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales anime. The series is available to stream on The Roku Channnel, Netflix and Crunchyroll, which describes it like so:

Mononoke Plot

In feudal Japan, evil spirits known as mononoke plague both households and the countryside. Only one person has the power to kill them where they stand: the Medicine Seller. But in order to draw his spirit-slaying sword he must first understand the Form, Truth, and Reason of the mononoke. Armed with sharp wit, he wanders from place to place striking down the evil spirits in his wake.
