Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is reportedly dealing with a knee “sprain” that “is not a significant thing,” a league source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
He added that it is unclear if Lawrence will be ready for Thursday night’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Head coach Doug Pederson didn’t offer much of an update on Lawrence—who underwent an MRI on the injury—while speaking to reporters on Monday, however, beyond saying he was day-to-day.
“You’d have to talk Ferg [vice president of player health and performance Jeff Ferguson],” he added. “That’s out of my jurisdiction.”

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson is intentionally being coy about QB Trevor Lawrence’s knee injury and status vs Saints.
Makes sense given the short week to keep the Saints guessing.
Lawrence, 24, suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 37-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, initially grabbing at his knee before walking off the field.
Pederson said that backup C.J. Beathard could see first-team reps in practice this week “if Trevor’s sore. We’ve done this before. We did last year [when Lawrence suffered a toe injury against Detroit]. C.J. took the Wednesday reps and then Trevor took the rest of the week and was ready to play in the game.”
The third-year Lawrence has put together a solid if somewhat underwhelming season, throwing for 1,439 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 67.1 percent of his passes while taking 16 sacks.
That follows a breakthrough sophomore campaign that saw him throw for 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns, leading Jacksonville to a postseason berth and dramatic comeback win against the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round.
One thing Lawrence has proven to be in his short career is durable, never missing a game. And after a shaky 1-2 start to the season he’s helped the Jaguars get back on track with three straight wins, including a statement victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
A short turnaround before Thursday’s game against the Saints could end his Iron Man track record. Regardless, the report that his knee injury isn’t more serious will be welcome news in Jacksonville.
