DC and Legendary turned heads at Comic-Con with the reveal of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, a new crossover series that drags the mightiest creatures of the Monsterverse into the DCU. With the first issue of the series nearing release, IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #1.

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #1 – Exclusive Preview
The creative team on Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong includes writer Brian Buccellato and artist Christian Duce and colorist Luis Guerrero. Cover artists include Drew Johnson, Jim Lee and Scott Williams, Rafael Albuquerque, Francesco Mattina and Dan Mora and Alan Quah.
“What can you say about pitting the biggest, baddest, and most beloved giant monsters against the most powerful super hero team there is? It’s a dream job for me creatively and the absolute most fun I’ve ever had playing in the DC Universe,” Buccellato tells IGN. “Christian and I have the luxury of a larger format—30 pages per issue—which really allows us to take advantage of the scope and scale of the series. It’s such a thrill to be able to have big panels and splash pages to show not only the magnitude of these monsters but also quieter character moments.”
Buccellato adds, “In the preview, Superman is busy trying to get as much Super Hero work done as he can before he takes his first ever vacation…hopefully to celebrate his engagement to Lois Lane. But his intimate personal quest gets upended by the arrival of the Legendary Monsterverse monsters…and he must face the biggest threat (pun intended) he’s ever faced. The King of the Monsters. Godzilla.”
“As soon as I read the first few pages, I visualized everything, thanks to Brian’s great work. I could even hear music in my head! I was very eager to draw Godzilla for the first time…what a moment! Really fantastic!” Duce says. “Drawing the Justice League fighting Godzilla, Kong, and monsters from the Legendary Monsterverse, alongside Brian and colorist Luis Guerrero!? Wow, it has been one of the best experiences of my career! I can only tell you that I am very eager for the world to enjoy the story as much as we do.”
Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #1 is priced at $4.99 for the standard version and $5.99 for the cardstock variants. The issue will be released on October 17, 2023.
